About 150 people got to see a high-energy, impromptu collaboration in Dartmouth’s Collis Common Ground the evening of Monday, April 4, as part of the “Collis Cabaret” series.
Two Dartmouth student dance groups–the multi-genre Fusion Dance Ensemble and Raaz, which combines traditional and contemporary South Asian dance styles–got together with Brazil’s Companhia Urbana de Dança, on campus for a busy week culminating in four Hop performances on Friday and Saturday, April 8 & 9.
Organized by the college’s Student Programming Board and the Hop, the collaboration started with a brief workshop at which the dancers worked together to create a new dance. Then, at 8:30 pm, they performed that piece, and each group also performed its own dances. Refreshments of pie, cheese and wine helped fuel the audience.
