OK, Dartmouth seniors: time to get serious about that bucket list! With your last term on campus about to begin, you have precious little time to cram in those essential experiences.
Help is at hand–especially for those bucket list items relating to the Hop and the arts. From Friday, February 17, through Saturday, February 25, the Hopkins Center presents Senior Spectacular, eight days of fun events in the arts, especially for ’17s!
With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Hop Student Engagement Team Interns Cynthia Tan ’17 and Mallory Rutigliano ’17 organized this series to get students actively involved in hands-on activities at the Hop. From a free workshops at the Jewelry Studio, classical music at the climbing gym, a post-concert catered party, shows by your incredibly talented fellow students, and dinner with a Grammy-winning New York musician, it’s a last-minute chance to make a few more Dartmouth memories!
Cynthia and Mallory have been interns sponsored by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for three years in a position designed to increase student engagement in classical music. They often can be found advertising for classical music performances from visiting artists or student ensembles, stemming from their love of music and their participation in the Dartmouth College Wind Ensemble. Every winter term, Cynthia and Mallory put together events to give students more intimate experiences with classical music, from collaborating performances between students and faculty, to commissioning original student compositions.
This year, as seniors, Cynthia and Mallory have helped establish events for all students, with their big project being aimed at their fellow seniors!
