Who’s on stage this spring at the Hop?

Even on the still-frigid Dartmouth campus there are signs of spring - at least in the form of mud, puddles and copious potholes. But cheerier signs will soon be arriving - along with a blooming array of events at the Hopkins Center for the Arts! Creativity – and technology – link two Hop Ensembles at opposite ends of the Hop

  It began as a conversation over drinks last spring, between Dartmouth Dance Ensemble co-leader Rebecca Stenn and Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra Director Filippo Ciabatti. Wouldn't it be great to collaborate? they opined. OK, so what music would Ciabatti most like to perform? Without missing a beat (he is a conductor, after all), he named Petrushka, Igor Stravinsky's 1911 orchestral work Right away, Stenn and Ciabatti called DDE co-leader John Heginbotham, and three began hatching plans with others in the Hop. Ensemble’s dance “numbers” add up to a great concert May 26 & 27

Let's look at the numbers on the spring 2017 concert by the Dartmouth Dance Ensemble (DDE), taking place on Friday and Saturday, May 26 and 27, 8 pm, in The Moore Theater of The Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth College: FOUR choreographers (including one Beyoncé collaborator); FIVE ensembles playing live music for the dancers, including 31 members of the Dartmouth College Wind Ensemble; NINETEEN dancers, a historic number for the Dance Ensemble!
