During a jam-packed week as an artist in residence at the Hop January 18-23, South African dancer/choreographer Dada Masilo and her company covered a lot of ground, including visiting classes at Dartmouth and Rivendell Academy in Orford, NH, giving a public dance master class in Dartmouth’s Straus Studio, and giving two performances of its astonishing version of Swan Lake. Before one of those performances, young people from the Junction teen center in White River Junction, VT, had a meal and an informal dance lesson with members of Dartmouth’s student-run Soyeya African dance troupe.
